The Cross River State Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (MEDA) has awarded a ₦1 million grant to three women-owned businesses at the Calabarmums Big Meet Business Summit.
The event, themed “Her Money, Her Power,” aimed to empower women entrepreneurs and promote business development.
In addition to the grant, 20 women received scholarships for a training program at the Centre for Entrepreneurs Development (EDC) in Calabar.
The summit brought together women from diverse backgrounds, sharing their experiences and insights to encourage entrepreneurship and business development.
Director-General of MEDA, Great Ogban, emphasized the state government’s commitment to enterprise development, particularly for women, whom he described as the foundation of a thriving society like Cross River State.
The summit convener, Lady Victoria Ekpo, explained that the Calabarmums brand is dedicated to supporting women in navigating the challenges of life and fostering a strong sense of community.
She added that the business summit aims to empower female business owners by providing a platform for learning from experts and established entrepreneurs.
