
An accident scene

No fewer than nine staff of the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA) escaped death narrowly in an accident close to Daudu town in Guma Local Government Area when they were returning from an official assignment.
A statement by the Information Officer of BSEMA, Mr Ager Tema confirmed the incident explaining that the accident occured when another vehicle suddenly surged onto the main road from a busy path.
The statement explained further that “effort to avoid a collision, the driver of the BSEMA bus swerved, causing the bus to somersault three times before coming to a halt”.
The BSEMA spokesperson revealed that no casualty was recorded even as all the affected staff were responding positively to treatment in the hospital.
In his comment on the incident, the driver of BSEMA vehicle, Ordoon Charles appreciated God for saving their lives.
The agency spokesman, acknowledged the vital role played by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management/Benue-SEMA, Sir James Iorpuu in ensuring immediate conveyance of the victims to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) for treatment.
It is worthy of note that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between BSEMA and BSUTH Makurdi, has guaranteed top-notch medical attention for the injured staff as the partnership is expected to accelerate their recovery process.
Those affected in the accident were Iortim Raphael (Ortese Camp), Adimbo Gloria (Ortese Camp), Abi Jairus (Ortese Camp), Benedicta Iorzua (Ortese Camp), Joy Anwase (Uikpiam Camp), Hon. Terhemen Liam (Uikpiam Camp), Ngunan Ann Toryima (Abagena Camp), Sewuese Terzungwe (Abagena Camp) and Ordoon Charles (Driver).
