
FRSC officials at the scene of an accident

The Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), Bauchi State Sector Command, has confirmed that six people were killed in a multiple fatal crash that occured on Saturday at Rama village along Darazo – Bauchi route.
The FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Yusuf Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident to journalists on Sunday, said that 12 people were involved in the fatal crash.
Abdullahi said: “The crash occurred on Saturday, December 10th, 2022 at about 8.14pm involving two commercial vehicles – An ash Toyota bus with registration number DRZ 356ZD and a Blue Mercedes Benz articulated trailer with no number plate as of the time of the crash.
“The crash which occured at Rama Village, along Darazo – Bauchi route, was caused by wrong overtaking by one of the drivers.
“When we got the call informing us of the crash, our rescue team rushed to the scene for rescue operation. They immediately evacuated the victims to the Darazo General Hospital for treatment and confirmation.
“It took men of the FRSC just seven minutes to get to the scene of the crash for a rescue operation after they got the report of the incident.
“It was there at the hospital that a medical doctor confirmed six of them dead. Six other people sustained different degrees of injuries, while only one person escaped unhurt.”
He said that the corpses were deposited at the mortuary in the General Hospital, Darazo after which they would be released to the families of the deceased for burial, adding that all the obstructions on the road were cleared to allow for a free flow of traffic.
The FRSC boss cautioned drivers against wrong driving and recklessness on the road especially at this season where there is a high volume of vehicular movement.
