The representative for Wase Federal Constituency at the National Assembly,, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase has reiterated his dedication to providing the benefits of democracy to his constituents.
Speaking during the commissioning and handover of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Community Study Centre in Wase Local Government Area, Plateau State, Hon. Wase emphasized his dedication to improving the social and economic well-being of his people.
He stated “This project is dear to my constituency, looking at the importance of education for Nigerians. It is in alignment with our renewed hope mantra of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s administration; we are ensuring that every Nigerian improves their standard of living,”

Hon. Wase expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for creating a conducive environment for the project, saying, “I want to appreciate His Excellency President Bola Tinubu for giving us the enabling environment to operate and commission this project.”
“This university will serve as an open university and a center for learning, not only for the people of Plateau State but also for those in Gombe, Taraba, and other places.”
The Lawmaker assured that there are numerous projects due for commissioning and others ongoing.
“We have been able to connect our people to national status and attract a budget worth 77 billion naira. We have also brought a learning institute to Bashar, another learning center here in Wase, a federal medical center in Wase, and the National Orthopedic Hospital in Jos.”
Also, Senator representing Plateau South, Sen. Simon Bako Lalong, acknowledged the importance of the new center in advancing education, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s policy thrust.
“This center will benefit not only people from Plateau but also those outside the state. Moreover, more institutions have been created in Bashar benefiting Wase, Plateau State, and Nigeria.
“We urge the community to continue their support, as more developments are expected for Wase,” he said.
In his remarks, NOUN Vice Chancellor Prof. Olufemi Peters, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Administration, Prof. Isaac Butswat, highlighted the center’s importance for Wase and its neighboring communities.
“It is designed to empower underserved populations by providing accessible educational resources and skill-building opportunities, breaking the cycle of poverty and fostering sustainable livelihoods,” he said.
He emphasized the center’s mission to empower through education, foster community engagement, and facilitate sustainable development.
The center offers comprehensive educational programs, workshops, cultural events, and civic dialogues aimed at improving the community’s quality of life. Modern facilities, including a computer lab, digital library, multipurpose hall, and recreational spaces, support interactive learning and community activities.
