Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), in Plateau State as well as parts of Kaduna and Bauchi states, has declared 11 persons wanted for their involvement in various attacks and killings, particularly in the Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Bokkos, and Riyom local government areas of Plateau State.
Addressing journalists in Jos on Friday, Deputy Commander of OPSH, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Terzungwe Iyua, said these persons are needed for questioning regarding their complicity in attacks across different locations in Plateau State.
OPSH has offered a reward for information leading to their capture. Despite ongoing efforts to restore peace, these individuals continue to obstruct progress.
According to him, those wanted on the list include Muhammadu MP from Bokkos; Muhammed (aka MOPOL); Rabiu Ibrahim from Yelwa, Gashish, and Nghar villages; Buba Sobe from Tenti in Barkin Ladi; Senfos Inusa Gaine from Zorgom; and Nahaska Boderi, also from Tenti in Barkin Ladi.
Others are Dudi Mohammadu from Yamusa Bago hamlet in Machambe Village, Habu Mohammadu from Yamusa Bago hamlet in Machambe Village, Ja’afaru Matakala from Yamusa Bago hamlet in Machambe Village, Hassan Waje from Yamusa Bago hamlet in Machambe Village, and Sanusi Dafor from Bokkos local council.
The deputy commander emphasized that, in line with the mandate of Operation Safe Haven, officers have been relentless in their efforts to bring the perpetrators of these heinous crimes to justice.
He stated, “For those still at large, over time we exploited the use of technology to conduct forensic examinations that revealed their identities. Operation Safe Haven has continued to take proactive steps towards securing lives and property in the joint operations area.”
He noted that these efforts have occasionally been disrupted by the “activities of enemies of peace.” Iyua cited the attack on parts of Barkin Ladi and Mangu local government areas on Christmas Eve 2023 as a significant example.
He also mentioned further incidents, stating, “While concerted efforts were being made to restore peace and stability in the area, some other criminals struck parts of Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas on April 19–20, 2024, and May 8, 2024, which resulted in the loss of lives and property.”
