
Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu

Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu has stated that the world is witnessing unprecedented levels of sufferings with millions injured as a result of conflict ravaging the world.
He said this in a keynote address to mark the 2024 World Humanitarian Day and Symposium with the theme: “Act For Humanity“, held at Danic Hotel Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
Governor Otu, who was represented by the Commissioner for Establishment and Pension, Lawretiatia Ita, said that there is a need for collaboration and partnership.
The Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Mrs Helen Isamoh Egodo, said the theme for this year’s World Humanitarian Day: “Act for Humanity“, is a clarion call for action in the face of escalating violence against humanitarian workers.
“Today we are gathered here to honor Humanitarian Workers, we are reminded of the need for collective action”.
“Everywhere in the world including here in our state, humanitarian workers are the embodiment of compassion, courage and resilience”
“Today as we celebrate ourselves, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to all the humanitarian workers who have dedicated their lives to helping others”
“In a world where crises are becoming more frequent and severe , Your efforts are more critical than ever”, the commissioner stated.
