By DANJUMA JOSEPH, Lafia-
The Bishop of Lafia (Anglican Communion), Rt. Rev. Godwin Robinson, has called on President Bola Tinubu to address the root causes of insecurity and economic challenges facing Nigeria.
Delivering the Bishop’s Charge at the 2nd session of the 9th Synod of the Diocese, Robinson emphasized that “Structural reforms must address the root causes of injustice, insecurity, and underdevelopment.”
He commended Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda but urged the government to ensure its impact is felt by the poor, displaced, jobless, and marginalized.
“We call on the government to ensure that renewed hope becomes real hope for the poor, the displaced, the jobless, and the marginalized.” He said.
Robinson also charged Nigerians to “rise with courage, act with vision, and commit ourselves afresh to justice, equity, and righteousness.”
Citing Leviticus 6:13, he emphasized the importance of spiritual responsibility and keeping the “fire burning” in service to God and humanity. “The fire on the altar was God-initiated and had to be preserved by the priests, making it a divine-human partnership in sustaining worship.”
The bishop urged clerics and Synod delegates to emulate the Levites, faithfully carrying out their duties to keep the fire burning.
“Each of us has a sacred duty to tend this flame.” He said.
