The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) is operating additional special train services on the Lagos-Ibadan and Abuja-Kaduna routes to accommodate the surge in passenger traffic during the Eid-Kabir celebration.
The Corporation Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, disclosed this in a statement issued to NATIONAL ACCORD on Saturday in Lagos.
He said: “The extra trips would ease return travel for festive travellers heading back to their destinations.”
The additional train services are scheduled as follows:
- Lagos-Ibadan: Monday, June 17, with departures from Lagos at 8:00 a.m., 1:55 p.m., and 4:00 p.m., and from Ibadan at 8:00 a.m., 11:03 a.m., and 4:46 p.m.
- Abuja-Kaduna: Extended to Tuesday, June 18, with six daily trips:
- Abuja to Kaduna: 7:45 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:10 p.m.
- Kaduna to Abuja: 7:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m.
Opeifa said, “We are pleased with public response to our special services. These additional trips are part of our commitment to meeting the growing demand for rail mobility.”
The NRC’s gesture aims to ease the return journey for travellers and demonstrate its responsiveness to public needs.
