
Newly Commissioned water project in Sokoto

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has commissioned multi-billion naira water and road projects in Sokoto State, marking a significant milestone in the state’s development journey.
The projects, worth over N14 billion, were commissioned on Wednesday as part of the state’s efforts to improve access to safe drinking water and enhance infrastructure.
Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, expressed his delight with the water schemes, saying they are “very dear” to him and designed to improve water supply in the state.
The six water projects, initiated by his mentor, former Governor Aliyu Mahatakarda Wamakko, will provide 40 million gallons of water per day, boosting urban water availability
“This water scheme is among the six critical water schemes we are completing which include, Tamaje Water Scheme, Old Airport Water Scheme, Gagi Water Scheme, Mana Water Scheme, Runjin Sambo Water Scheme and Ruga Liman Water Scheme and the six water projects awarded to the tune of N 14,138,289,057 are designed to boost urban water availability.
“This water scheme is designed to provide 3 million gallons of water per day, while the entire 6 water schemes are to provide 40 million gallons per day”.
While noting that his administration is fully committed to ensuring that every citizen of Sokoto state has access to safe drinking water, the governor added that,” as soon as we commission this scheme, we would continue to monitor the remaining 4 projects to ensure that they are completed and commissioned in due course’.
He said: the roads being commissioned today are, the Chima-Rai Jumuat Mosque road to Mabera Roundabout, which cost the Government the sum of N502,032,233.68. The Unguwar Rogo Police Station Junction to Mabera Roundabout, 1.32 km at the cost of N729,810,436.30.
“The 800 meters Mabera Roundabout to Musa Lukuwa Jumu’at Mosque leading to the Eastern Bypass was awarded at the cost of N756,022,851.673. These are not just roads; they are lifelines as they represent access, mobility, safety, and dignity for the people of Mabera”.
Earlier, Governor Okpebholo, commended Governor Aliyu, describing him as a developmentally-minded leader.
This praise was offered before Okpebholo cut the tapes at various project sites in Sokoto State, including the commissioning of multi-billion naira water and road projects. Okpebholo’s remarks suggest that he believes Aliyu’s focus on development aligns with the values of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
