By HARUNA AHMED, Kano –
Kano State House of Assembly has denied reports that it plans to investigate the Chairperson of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in the state, Hajiya Sa’adatu Yusha’u, over alleged land allocation irregularities.
According to Mr. Kamaluddeen Shawai, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, the reports are “false and misleading.”
Shawai clarified that the Majority Leader, Lawal Hussain-Dala, did not grant any interview or comment on the alleged investigation.
He emphasized that receiving a petition does not automatically imply endorsement of an investigation.
The assembly stated that it operates within the bounds of the constitution and due process, adding that any investigation must follow laid-down procedures, including fair hearing for all parties.
As Shawai noted, “The House reserves the right to receive and consider petitions from individuals or groups, guided by transparency and the rule of law.”
The assembly has demanded that individuals and media outlets that circulated the report retract it and issue a public apology within seven days or face legal action.
