On Thursday, morning thunderstorms with moderate rains are predicted in parts of Taraba, Kebbi, Bauchi, Kaduna, and Gombe in the north. Thunderstorms with moderate rains will hit several northern states later.
Friday brings morning thunderstorms in the north with moderate rains in states like Taraba, Bauchi, Gombe, and Kaduna. Isolated thunderstorms are expected later in the day in the northwest.
NiMet warned of high flood risks in states like Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, and Kaduna.
The agency advised avoiding heavy rain driving, activating emergency plans in flood-prone areas, and avoiding fertilizer application before rains.
NiMet urged checking updates on its website: www.nimet.gov.ng, dressing warmly at night, securing loose items, disconnecting appliances during storms, and avoiding tall trees. Airlines should get airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for safe operations.
