
Fola Oyekunle of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has emerged victorious in the Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election, securing the seat with a commanding lead.
The election results were announced by the Returning Officer, Prof. Abiodun Oluwadare, in Ibadan early Sunday morning.
Oyekunle garnered 18,404 votes, outpacing his nearest competitor, Adewale Olatunji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who secured 8,312 votes.
Other contenders included Femi Akin-Alamu of the African Democratic Party (ADC) with 88 votes, Olabisi Olajumoke of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) with 40 votes, and Hammed Badmus of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) with 18 votes.
Prof. Oluwadare confirmed that Oyekunle met the legal requirements and was officially declared the winner.
The by-election was held to fill the vacancy left by the passing of Rep. Olaide Akinremi of the APC on July 10.
