Nigeria’s Women’s Premier League champions, Bayelsa Queens, secured their spot in the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU B qualifiers final with a hard-fought victory.
On Tuesday in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, the Nigerian team triumphed over Burkina Faso’s USFA with a 2-1 scoreline.
USFA struck first, as Comfort Yeboah found the net just two minutes into the match.
However, Bayelsa Queens responded swiftly, with Emem Essien leveling the score in the 15th minute through a commanding header.
The decisive moment came in the 62nd minute when Seimeyeha Akekoromowei netted the winning goal, propelling the Prosperity Ladies to the tournament’s final, set for Friday.
“Bayelsa Queens showed resilience and determination to overcome an early setback and secure their place in the final,” said a tournament official.
