Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed
Bauchi State has taken a bold step toward sustaining peace by inaugurating a dynamic Inter-Faith Committee, tasked with promoting harmony, religious tolerance, and ethnic unity in Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro Local Government Areas.
The committee, composed of influential Imams, clergymen, security representatives, and local officials, aims to counter recent tensions driven by farmers-herders disputes.
At the inauguration in the Executive Council Chamber, Government House, Bauchi, Governor Bala Mohammed, stressed the importance of safeguarding the state’s hard-earned peace. “No one, regardless of status, will be allowed to disrupt our unity,” he declared, underscoring the committee’s role as a beacon for dialogue and reconciliation.
Co-chaired by Imam Alaramma Mallam Fa’izu Ado Musa and Rev. Father Benson Bature, the 30-member committee is charged with: Leading grassroots campaigns to foster peaceful coexistence, mediating conflicts and encouraging intergroup dialogue; promoting interfaith values of love and forgiveness; mobilizing communities through religious platforms for peace and escalating unresolved issues to relevant authorities
Governor Mohammed pledged robust support for the committee and announced a forthcoming societal reorientation program to deepen values of tolerance and civic duty.
This initiative reinforces Bauchi’s commitment to remaining a model of peace and unity in Nigeria, laying a strong foundation for continued development.
