Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has donated a fleet of high-grade security vehicles worth several billions of naira to the Nigerian military, as part of his administration’s efforts to tackle insecurity across the state.
The security fleet—comprising mine-resistant vehicles, armored gun trucks, and patrol gunboats—was officially handed over at the 6 Brigade Headquarters of the Nigerian Army in Jalingo, the state capital.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Governor Kefas reiterated his administration’s strong commitment to the safety and well-being of Taraba residents, emphasizing that security remains the bedrock of development.
“Under my administration, security will continue to receive priority; it is very paramount to our administration because we believe with a guaranteed secured environment, people have the freedom to bring about development within their various areas,” the governor stated.
Governor Kefas also revealed that his government has finalized arrangements for the establishment of drone surveillance stations aimed at enhancing the monitoring of communities and border areas across the state.
He stressed that investment in the security sector is a central pillar of his developmental strategy—covering land, waterways, and airspace.
“Our commitment to providing continuous support for security agencies cannot be compromised,” he added.
Sources confirmed that the procurement of the security fleet followed a series of strategic meetings between Governor Kefas and the Chief of Defence Operations, Major General Emeka Onumajuru.
The initiative underscores the Kefas administration’s resolve to strengthen collaboration with security forces and create a safer, more stable Taraba State.
