A daring attempt to kidnap the Chairman of Gassol Local Government Council in Taraba, Alhaji Abubakar Saidu, was foiled by the swift response of the police.
It was learnt that the incident occurred at Saidu’s residence in GRA, Jalingo, in the early hours of Friday.
Saidu told reporters in Friday that eight assailants, armed with four AK 47 rifles, attempted to gain access to his residence at 2:00 a.m.
However, upon spotting them through the window, he quickly alerted the Divisional Police Officer, who responded promptly, causing the kidnappers to flee.
Timely Intervention
Expressing gratitude for the police and vigilante personnel’s timely intervention, Saidu appealed for increased security measures at his residence.
The Taraba Police Command has confirmed the incident and launched an investigation.
“We commend the police and vigilante personnel for their prompt response.
“We urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police,” said the Police Public Relations Officer, James Lashen.
