African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State has intensified efforts to foster unity and reconciliation among party members following concerns that emerged from its recently concluded primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The interim leadership of the party said the reconciliation process, which involved consultations with gubernatorial aspirants, stakeholders and party members across the state, has yielded positive results and strengthened cohesion within the party.
In a statement jointly signed by the state chairman, Dr. Bege Katuka, and secretary, Mustapha Ahmed, the party acknowledged that the primaries conducted between May 25 and 30, 2026, generated complaints in some areas due to challenges encountered during the exercise.
The leadership, however, described the issues as part of the realities of a human process, noting that the party’s constitution and guidelines provide avenues for aggrieved aspirants to seek redress through established grievance mechanisms.
According to the statement, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party is currently reviewing all petitions and reports arising from the primaries and will soon take decisions aimed at ensuring fairness and justice for all concerned parties.
As part of the reconciliation arrangements, the party announced the appointment of Prof. Muhammad Sami Bello, popularly known as Mainan Zazzau, as the Kaduna State Coordinator of the presidential campaign of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, while Hon. Jaafaru Ibrahim Sani was named Director-General of the Kaduna State Gubernatorial Campaign Organisation.
The ADC leadership commended the maturity and cooperation displayed by its gubernatorial aspirants and praised the party’s governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Isa Ashiru Kudan, for what it described as his commitment to accommodating diverse interests and promoting unity within the party.
The statement also acknowledged the roles played by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and other national leaders of the party in facilitating the reconciliation process.
The party urged members to avoid inflammatory statements and remain united as preparations gather momentum for the 2027 general elections.
