Over 68 pupils drawn from the 17 Local Government Areas of Plateau State have received training in robotics, Internet of Things and design at the 2025 Creators Camp organised by a Jos-based technology firm, Futurefeat Lab.
The programme, which culminated in a Makeathon held in Jos on Saturday, brought together children between the ages of six and 16 to showcase original projects in automation, connected devices and creative design.
Founder of Futurefeat Lab, Moses Amama, said the initiative was aimed at equipping children with practical problem-solving skills and exposing them to modern technology.
“What we witnessed today is proof that the future is already here in the minds and hands of these children. Our role is simply to give them the space, the tools, and the encouragement to keep creating. That is how we’ll build the next generation of problem-solvers and leaders – right here at home,” he said.
During the sessions, participants presented prototypes and demonstrated their ability to troubleshoot and explain their projects. Judges observed that several teams overcame hardware challenges with creative alternatives, describing the adaptability as a mark of genuine understanding.
One of the judges, Peter Badungs, commended the pupils’ resilience. He said, “That’s the real measure of learning, not just finishing a project but understanding it deeply enough to troubleshoot, adapt and explain.”
Parents and educators at the event also expressed satisfaction with the impact of the training. A parent, Mary Hassan, said: “I have seen a new side of my child. She now believes she can solve problems, not just read about them in books.”
Certificates of participation were presented to the children at the end of the programme.
Futurefeat Lab’s Community Manager, Tamimia Nuhu, said the firm plans to expand its reach to more schools and communities across Plateau State and beyond.
“Futurefeat Lab’s mission is to spot, nurture, and amplify the raw materials of future creators through hands-on learning and community collaboration,” she added.
