INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN)
Newly appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan, is scheduled to officially assume office this Thursday, October 23, 2025.
An internal notice from the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, revealed that Amupitan will hold a meeting with the Commission’s Directors at INEC headquarters on the same day.
Before taking charge, President Bola Tinubu is expected to administer the oath of office during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja.
Amupitan, aged 58, is a Professor of Law at the University of Jos and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
His appointment was confirmed by the Senate last Thursday through a voice vote presided over by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
