The Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State, Hon. Pirfa Jingfa Tyem, has formally received his All Progressives Congress membership card, marking his official alignment with the ruling party amid moves to strengthen its grassroots base ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Tyem received the temporary APC membership card from the National Chairman of the party, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, during an APC e-registration assessment visit to the local government area on Tuesday.
The event, held at the Christ College of Theology and Education, Pyal, drew party leaders, government officials, traditional rulers and stakeholders from across Plateau State, as the APC leadership assessed the implementation of its ongoing digital membership registration exercise.
Presenting the card, Yilwatda said the e-registration initiative was part of the party’s broader effort to deepen internal democracy, strengthen party structures and ensure credible membership records nationwide.
He explained that the choice of Langtang North as one of the assessment locations reflected the party’s resolve to drive inclusiveness and grassroots participation, particularly within strategic political blocs in the state.
Speaking after receiving the card, Tyem described the visit by the national leadership as significant, noting that it underscored the APC’s confidence in the people and party structures in Langtang North.
“This visit is of immense significance to us. By selecting Langtang North as one of the Local Government Areas to commence this important exercise in Plateau State, the APC National Leadership has demonstrated great confidence in our people and our party structures,” the council chairman said.
He assured the party leadership of the local government’s readiness to mobilise its people to ensure the success of the e-registration exercise, adding that grassroots participation remained critical to building a strong and united party.
Tyem also expressed appreciation to the APC National Chairman for what he described as purposeful leadership, saying the exercise would further strengthen transparency and effective organisation within the party.
“Your presence here today further underscores the party’s unwavering resolve to promote transparency, internal democracy, and effective organisation at the grassroots level, which remains the backbone of our great party,” he added.
Other prominent party members who also received their temporary APC membership cards at the event included the Plateau State Commissioner for Works, Hon. Ubandoma Laven, and the member representing Langtang North-North constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Abel Nansak Nimchak.
Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, who addressed the gathering, urged residents of the area to actively participate in the APC e-registration exercise as well as the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration.
He emphasised the need for eligible citizens to obtain valid National Identification Numbers and Permanent Voter Cards, noting that effective political participation was essential for sustaining Plateau State’s relevance at the national level.
The governor also acknowledged the support of the Tarok Nation during the 2023 general elections and called for unity, reconciliation and renewed commitment among party members as preparations for future elections intensify.
Goodwill messages were delivered by the Secretary to the State Government, Arch. Nanchang Samuel Jatau, members of the National Assembly, party leaders and representatives of the traditional institution, who all stressed the importance of unity, mobilisation and sustained grassroots engagement.
The rally ended with a call on party members and eligible citizens to complete the APC e-registration process, revalidate existing memberships and participate fully in the Continuous Voter Registration exercise ahead of the 2027 polls.
