Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, has arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to lead the country’s delegation to the 48th Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Executive Council.
The two-day meeting, which begins on Wednesday, is expected to set the tone for major continental discussions ahead of the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government scheduled for February 14 and 15.
During the summit, Ambassador Tuggar is expected to engage with fellow African leaders and diplomats on critical issues affecting the continent, including peace and security, democratic governance, and sustainable development.
The minister will also participate in a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit with representatives of both African and non-African countries. These engagements are aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic ties and expanding cooperation in key areas of mutual interest.
According to a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the ministry will keep Nigerians informed on major developments and outcomes from the meetings.
The AU summit is a key platform for shaping policies and strategies that promote unity, stability, and economic growth across Africa, with Nigeria expected to play an active role in the discussions.
