Baze University has announced the appointment of Professor Abiodun Adeniyi as its new Vice-Chancellor and Ahmad Mahmoud Lawi as Registrar, with both appointments taking effect from May 6, 2026.
The appointments were approved by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Founder, Datti Baba-Ahmed, following what the institution described as a thorough and highly competitive selection process aimed at strengthening the university’s leadership and administrative capacity.
Professor Adeniyi, a distinguished scholar in Communication and Media Epistemology, assumes the office of Vice-Chancellor after serving meritoriously as the university’s Registrar. He succeeds in the role as Registrar by Alhaji Ahmad Mahmoud Lawi, who previously served as Director of Human Resources at the institution.
Both appointees are longstanding members of the Baze University community, having dedicated more than a decade to the institution with distinguished records of loyalty, professionalism, and administrative excellence.

The Board of Trustees expressed confidence that the new leadership team possesses the experience, vision, and capacity required to deepen the university’s academic reputation, strengthen institutional governance, and drive continued growth and innovation.
According to the Board, the appointments underscore the university’s enduring commitment to merit, continuity, and the cultivation of competent leadership capable of sustaining the institution’s upward trajectory.
Members of the university community have since congratulated Professor Abiodun Adeniyi and Ahmad Mahmoud Lawi on their appointments, while urging staff, students, and stakeholders to extend their full support and cooperation as the new administration begins its tenure.
