Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno, has lauded President Bola Tinubu over increased revenue allocation to states which he said has facilitated key development projects.
Eno stated this while receiving members of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) in his office in Uyo, the state capital.
According to the governor, the new revenue profile has helped states to embark on projects to improve the well-being of the people.
He assured the team of the state government’s support in carrying out its duties while in the state.
Earlier, Olusegun Adekunle Wright, a Federal Commissioner in the Commission, speaking on behalf of RMAFC, acknowledged the significant role played by Akwa Ibom State in the country’s economic well-being.
Wright described Akwa Ibom State as a symbol of resilience, enterprise, and purposeful leadership, stressing that the State has consistently distinguished itself as one of Nigeria’s foremost contributors to national development.
He commended the people of the State for their exceptional sense of industry, peaceful disposition, entrepreneurial spirit, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
He praised the State’s emergence as a model of transformational governance through sustained investment in infrastructure, healthcare delivery, education, aviation, tourism, and human capital development.
Wright noted that the State’s achievements greatly stand out as a strong testimony to what can be accomplished through prudent resource management, visionary leadership, and the collective determination of a people united by a common aspiration for progress.
He disclosed that his team was in the State for the South-South verification and data collection exercise to standardize and improve on their national financial service delivery and mandate.
He thanked the State Government for always supporting and collaborating with RMAFC to ensure that the objectives of its assigned duties are achieved in the State.
In the RMAFC team were Federal Commissioners, Imo Akpan, Rakiya Tanko Ayuba-Haruna, Steve Ugba, Modu Aji -Juluri, several Directors and other officials of the agency.
It was gathered that the commission’s mission in the state may have been unconnected with efforts to resolve the dispute with Cross River State over oil wells.
The commission had stated that it would present its findings to the state before taking the final decision on how to settle the dispute.
