Hausa/APC praise singer, Rarara and Afrobeat star, Davido
Popular Hausa praise singer, Rarara, has faulted music star Davido for displaying the names of abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Oyo State during the 2026 FIFA World Cup countdown concert, describing the move as inappropriate and damaging to Nigeria’s image.
Speaking in a video reaction, Rarara condemned the decision, arguing that sensitive security issues should not be projected on an international platform.
Describing the action as “barbaric,” he asked: “How can you promote Ansaru terrorists or insecurity-related issues to the whole world? How can you take a sensitive national security issue and project it to the world in a way that could damage the country’s image?”
The singer questioned Davido’s intention, alleging that the award-winning artiste was politicising the country’s security challenges because of his family’s political background.
According to Rarara, “Anyone who campaigns with insecurity is insane because he does not fully understand what it entails.”
He further claimed that the abduction occurred shortly after the arrest of suspected terrorists and noted that security agencies had already pledged to secure the release of the victims.
Rarara argued that efforts were ongoing to resolve the situation when Davido chose to spotlight the incident before a global audience.
According to him, “it was during this delicate period that Davido chose to embarrass us on a global stage.”
The singer also cautioned content creators and public figures against using insecurity-related issues for political purposes or online engagement, maintaining that such actions could tarnish Nigeria’s reputation internationally.
He insisted that amplifying insecurity narratives for personal or political gain could ultimately serve the interests of terrorist groups rather than the country.
Davido slams APC praise singer, Rarara
Reacting to Rarara’s criticism, Davido said: “First, no one who truly loves Nigeria would keep quiet over insecurity, or prevent others from expressing concerns,” he stated.
He dismissed the allegations as narrow-minded and warned against prioritising political allegiance over national welfare. “Lack of compassion, placing personal interests above the people’s welfare, and acting as a political stooge are not virtues. Be patriotic, let truth come before politics, and fear God in all you do,” @kahuturarara he posted.
