Governing Council of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) has dismissed one of its Malam Mustapha Abubakar, over gross misconduct involving sexual harrasment.
Malam Abubakar, until his dismissal, was a staff of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
The dismissal was approved by the institutions during its 117th Council meeting held on the 10th of June, 2026.
The institution emphasized that it has zero tolerance for harassment of any sort.
According to UDUS Bulletin, “The University Governing Council at it’s 177th meeting held in 10th June, 2026 approved the dismissal of Mustapha Abukakar. The staff was dismissed as a result of serious gross misconduct involving sexual harassment.
“Until his dismissal, Malam Mustapha was with the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the Faculty of Veterinary medicine”.
In the same vein, the University’s Council has approved the elevation of 9 PhD holders to full professors and 4 others to readers as well as 1 other person to the position of senior non-teaching staff.
