
Nigerian First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu
Benue State is set to receive Nigeria’s First Lady and National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who is expected to inaugurate 10 newly completed roads and commission a Community ICT Centre during her visit to the state.
The visit, scheduled for Tuesday, June 16, 2026, is expected to focus on women empowerment, family welfare and grassroots development under the Renewed Hope Initiative.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Benue State Governor, Tersoo Kula, the state government described the visit as significant for residents, especially women and beneficiaries of the initiative.
According to the statement, the roads slated for inauguration include Ishaya Bakut Road (Dual Carriageway), Off Ishaya Bakut Road (Spur 1), Off Ishaya Bakut Road (Spur 2), Off Ishaya Bakut Road (Spur 3), Abu King Shuluwa Road, and Mama Mbateren Alia Street, formerly known as Keke Napep Road.
Other projects to be commissioned are Dabo Plaza to Fashion Hub Road, Sir James Iorpuu Street, Tyagher Gbaa Street and Jato-Aka Road.
The government noted that the 10 roads form part of more than 45 road projects executed by the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia across the state.
Kula stated that, “Benue State is set to host the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and National Chairman, Renewed Hope Initiative, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in what promises to be a memorable and impactful visit for the people of the state, particularly women.”
He further explained that “the visit forms part of the Renewed Hope Initiative, a nationwide programme dedicated to empowering women, strengthening families, and improving the wellbeing of vulnerable groups across the country.”
“While in Benue, the First Lady will engage with women and beneficiaries of the initiative as part of efforts to deepen its impact at the grassroots,” the statement added.
Governor Hyacinth Alia, according to his spokesman, welcomed the planned visit and described it as another milestone in the partnership between the federal and state governments aimed at improving the welfare of citizens.
Following the road commissioning ceremony, Senator Tinubu is expected to travel to Ihugh, where she will perform the commissioning and handover of a Community ICT Centre.
Also speaking ahead of the visit, the Benue State Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady and State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Mrs. Scholastica Bensor, said preparations had been completed to ensure a successful outing.
She noted that women across the state were enthusiastic about the First Lady’s visit and eager to receive her.
Bensor called on “women, community leaders, support groups, and members of the public to turn out in large numbers to receive the First Lady and demonstrate the warmth, hospitality, and unity for which Benue people are known.”
