Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, has commended the Chancellor of the institution, His Majesty, Igwe Alfred Ugochukwu Achebe, CFR, Obi of Onitsha, for his outstanding leadership and contributions to the growth and development of the university.
Prof. Ahmed gave the commendation while congratulating the royal father on his 85th birthday and the 24th anniversary of his ascension to the throne as the 21st Obi of Onitsha.
The Vice-Chancellor described the Chancellor’s tenure since his appointment in 2016 as one marked by dedication, commitment and a strong sense of responsibility, noting that his leadership has helped elevate the university to greater heights.
According to him, Ahmadu Bello University remains a testament to the Chancellor’s influential fatherly role and visionary leadership, which have continued to inspire progress within the institution.
He also lauded the monarch’s decades of service to humanity, saying his reign has been characterised by peace, stability and prosperity, while his contributions have positively impacted lives across Nigeria and beyond.
Prof. Ahmed noted that the Obi of Onitsha’s exemplary record of service and integrity had earned him respect nationally and internationally, making him a role model to many.
“The Chancellor’s life exemplifies dedication to the advancement of humanity. The outcomes of these efforts are evident and stand as enduring testimonies to His Majesty’s remarkable contributions,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor prayed for continued good health, wisdom and many more years of fruitful service for the revered monarch, expressing the university community’s appreciation for his unwavering support and commitment to ABU.
