Troops of Sector 2 under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have arrested a man suspected of supplying logistics to terrorist groups and recovered a large quantity of military-related items during a stop-and-search operation in Zamfara State.
Security sources disclosed that the suspect was apprehended on June 24 along the Sokoto–Gusau Road while driving a Honda Civic loaded with military-grade equipment and electronic devices believed to be intended for terrorist elements operating across the North-West.
Among the items recovered from the vehicle were 150 pairs of combat boots, three jackknives, three electric shockers, a tear gas canister, one military beret and a military belt.
Troops also seized two Android mobile phones, an iPad and a digital wristwatch, all of which are expected to aid ongoing investigations.
The suspect is currently in military custody and is being interrogated as security agencies intensify efforts to uncover and dismantle terrorist logistics and supply networks in the region.
Military authorities said the successful operation demonstrates the resolve of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt the movement of equipment and supplies used by terrorist groups in the North-West.
They also appealed to residents to continue supporting security operations by providing credible and timely intelligence that could assist in combating terrorism and other criminal activities.
