Nigerian Air Force (NAF), operating under the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, has eliminated at least 11 suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists during a precision airstrike in the Maisani area of Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Military sources disclosed that the operation was carried out at about 5:30 p.m. on June 20 after credible intelligence, supported by sustained Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), confirmed the presence and movement of insurgents within the target location.
According to the sources, the target was subjected to extensive surveillance before the strike was authorised to ensure accuracy and prevent civilian casualties.
«“The target was positively identified following careful surveillance and intelligence analysis. After confirming the absence of civilian presence, the aircraft engaged the location with precision-guided fire, resulting in devastating effects on the terrorists,” the sources said.»
The sources further revealed that a post-strike Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) conducted through aerial surveillance confirmed that no fewer than 11 terrorists were neutralised during the operation.
They noted that the successful mission has further weakened the operational capability of ISWAP fighters active around the Damboa axis, an area that has remained under sustained military pressure in recent weeks.
The sources added that troops under Operation HADIN KAI will continue to sustain intelligence-driven air operations aimed at restricting the movement of terrorists, destroying their enclaves and providing air support for ongoing ground offensives across the North-East.
The latest strike is part of the military’s broader campaign to dismantle terrorist networks and restore lasting peace in Nigeria’s North-East region.
