Adeniyi Adeyemi
Police have arrested Adeniyi Adeyemi, who presented himself as the Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), in Osun State following a court-issued bench warrant.
Confirming the development, Force Public Relations Officer, Okokon Iniedu, said, “We have just confirmed the arrest of Mr. Adeniyi Adeyemi by a team of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in Osun State. Thank you.”
His arrest comes after Justice Muhammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered security agencies to produce him in court on September 30 after he failed to appear for his scheduled arraignment.
Adeyemi is facing an eight-count charge bordering on alleged forgery, fraud and impersonation, including accusations of forging an appointment letter purportedly issued by President Bola Tinubu and signed by Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila.
The Federal Government also alleged that he forged presidential letterheaded documents and falsely claimed to be the head of the PFIPC while seeking official recognition and office space.
The controversy grew after Adeyemi publicly claimed the council was genuine because it appeared in the 2026 budget and alleged that his life was under threat.
The Presidency has denied the existence of the PFIPC, while President Tinubu has directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the controversy.
