All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 Borno State election, Engr. Mustapha Gubio, alongside his running mate, Hon. Ali Abdullahi Isa, on Thursday flagged off the distribution of fertiliser and wrappers to 2,400 beneficiaries across the Chibok, Damboa and Gwoza Federal Constituency.
The empowerment programme was facilitated by the member representing Chibok/Damboa/Gwoza Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ahmadu Usman Jaha (Babawo), as part of efforts to support farmers, empower women and improve the welfare of constituents.
Under the initiative, farmers received fertiliser to boost agricultural productivity during the current farming season, while 1,200 women were presented with wrappers to enhance their economic and social well-being, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 2,400.
According to the organisers, the programme was implemented in partnership with the Federal College of Horticulture, Dadin Kowa, Gombe State, through Iflaha Project Partners Ltd., with the objective of improving access to agricultural inputs, reducing farming costs, increasing food production and strengthening community livelihoods.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, Gubio commended Hon. Jaha for what he described as a practical demonstration of responsive and people-centred representation.
He said sustained investment in agriculture and the empowerment of women remain essential to achieving food security, reducing poverty and promoting sustainable economic growth across Borno State.
Gubio noted that initiatives aimed at supporting local farmers would contribute significantly to improving livelihoods and enhancing the state’s agricultural sector.
In his remarks, Hon. Jaha reaffirmed his commitment to the development of Chibok, Damboa and Gwoza, stressing that the distribution formed part of his broader constituency empowerment programmes.
He explained that the intervention was designed to improve the living conditions of residents, support vulnerable groups and increase agricultural productivity within the constituency.
Following the empowerment programme, Gubio and members of his delegation paid a courtesy visit to the District Head of Damboa, where he expressed appreciation for the traditional ruler’s guidance, counsel and commitment to peace, unity and development in the area.
The APC governorship candidate also acknowledged the District Head’s prayers, encouragement and support, reaffirming his respect for the traditional institution and its role in promoting harmony, stability and community development across the state.
Addressing residents during the visit, Gubio thanked the people of Damboa for their warm reception and continued support for the APC.
He assured them of his commitment to inclusive leadership, grassroots development and people-oriented policies that would improve the lives of citizens if elected governor in 2027.
The delegation included the APC State Chairman, Hon. Bello Ayuba; the member representing Monguno/Marte/Nganzai Federal Constituency, Hon. Bukar Talba; Engr. Gombomi Marte; Barr. Mustapha Loskuri; Hon. Sugun Mai Mele; Engr. Yuguda Sale Vungas, alongside other APC leaders and stakeholders.
The event attracted party faithful, traditional rulers, community leaders, women groups, youth representatives and beneficiaries, who commended Hon. Jaha for the intervention and praised Gubio and his running mate, Hon. Ali Abdullahi Isa, for identifying with the people.
