Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi during a condolence visit in Abuja
Former Vice President and presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has paid a condolence visit to the Vice Presidential candidate of his party, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, following the death of his mother, Dame Mary Oduah Amaechi.
Atiku disclosed the visit in a post shared on his official social media platform on Thursday, where he said he led a delegation of friends and associates to Amaechi’s residence in Abuja to sympathise with him and his family over the loss.
Describing the late Dame Mary Oduah Amaechi’s death as a painful loss, Atiku said her passing extends beyond the immediate family.
“Today, I led a delegation of friends and associates to pay a condolence visit to H.E. Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the Vice Presidential candidate of our party, in Abuja,” Atiku wrote.
He added, “The passing of his beloved mother, Dame Mary Oduah Amaechi, remains a significant loss not only to the Amaechi family but to us all.”
The former Vice President also expressed relief that Amaechi remained strong despite the difficult period, noting that he met him in good spirits.
“I am pleased to have met my brother Amaechi in high spirits, even at this moment of grief,” he stated.
Atiku concluded by offering prayers for the deceased and her family.
“Our prayers are with the family, and may Mama’s soul rest in perfect peace,” he said.
The condolence visit comes as family members, political associates, friends and supporters continue to pay tribute to the late Dame Mary Oduah Amaechi and express solidarity with the former Rivers State governor during his period of mourning.
