Former NSA, Late Major General Abdullahi Mohammed Adangba (rtd.)
Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Major-General Abdullahi Mohammed (rtd), describing him as a distinguished patriot, consummate nationalist, and a pillar of Nigeria’s security and governance architecture.
In a condolence message signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Professor Tukur A. Muhammad-Baba, the ACF said the late General Mohammed lived an exemplary life of service, courage, humility, and sacrifice, dedicating himself wholly to the unity and stability of Nigeria.
The Forum noted that the deceased had an outstanding military career, during which he held several strategic command and administrative positions that contributed immensely to national security and cohesion. Among these, he served as Military Governor of the then Benue-Plateau State and later as Director-General of the National Security Organisation (NSO), the precursor of today’s Department of State Services (DSS).
The statement further recalled that in retirement, General Mohammed continued his service to the nation by accepting key appointments, including that of National Security Adviser (NSA) and later Chief of Staff to former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
According to the ACF, even after leaving public service, the late general remained devoted to his community and continued to quietly contribute to the progress of his home state, Kwara, and the nation as a whole.
“By every measure, late General Mohammed was an illustrious son of Arewa and Nigeria at large,” the statement read.
“He gave his very best in the service of his fatherland and left behind a legacy of dedication, integrity, and excellence.”it added.
The ACF extended its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, praying that Allah (SWT) grant him eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus and give his loved ones the fortitude to bear the loss with faith and courage.
The Forum also commiserated with the Federal Government, the Government and people of Kwara State, the Emir of Ilorin and his Council, as well as the Kwara State Chapter of the ACF, over the passing of one of Arewa’s most distinguished sons.
