By TYAV SAM TYAV, Makurdi –
A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mrs. Theresa Ikwe has called on all local government officials in Benue State, to key into Governor Hyacinth Alia’s seven points agenda to enable them achieve maximally for the benefit of their people.
Speaking exclusively with NATIONAL ACCORD in Makurdi, Mrs. Ikwe, who is now the Deputy Chairman of Okpokwu Local Government Council, emphasized that local government, being the closest tier to the grassroots, plays a vital role in connecting the people to the Alia administration. Essentially, the administration’s impact should be felt through the local governments, which are best positioned to understand and address the unique needs of their communities.
Mrs Ikwe, who lauded the Alia led administration for its people oriented nature, insisted that the local government officials have no reason to fail given the conducive environment provided by the governor to perform.
She wondered why some LG officials in the state were deliberately working against the success of Governor Alia led administration, explaining that some officials refused to even attend the training workshop meant to equip them in carrying out their official duties.
Ikwe, who has spent about three decades in politics, lamented what Benue State had gone through and what the governor was doing to reposition the state for the benefit of the people and called for support from all the people of the state.
She noted that she would continue to support the governor, who according to her was doing everything possible for the development of the state.
