All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to formally inaugurate its National Campaign Council for the forthcoming Ekiti State governorship election on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, as the ruling party intensifies preparations for the crucial poll.
According to a statement issued by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the inauguration ceremony will take place at the Kashim Shettima Hall of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, beginning at 12 noon.
The campaign council is chaired by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, while the President of the Senate, Godswill Obot Akpabio, serves as Co-Chairman. Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele has been appointed Secretary of the council.
The party said the council brings together serving and former governors, principal officers of the National Assembly, and other senior party leaders who will coordinate and oversee campaign activities ahead of the Ekiti governorship election.
As part of efforts to ensure a well-structured campaign, the APC has also established several subcommittees to manage critical aspects of the exercise.
The committees will oversee areas including election planning and management, finance and resource mobilisation, grassroots engagement and mobilisation, logistics and campaign management, protocol, media and publicity, security, women’s mobilisation, youth mobilisation, and secretariat operations.
The party described the inauguration as a key milestone in its preparations for the election, noting that it would serve as the official launch of its mobilisation drive across Ekiti State.
“The inauguration is an important part of activities to kick start mobilization across Ekiti State towards a victorious outing in the upcoming governorship election,” Morka stated.
Political observers view the composition of the council as a demonstration of the APC’s determination to consolidate its position in Ekiti State ahead of the governorship contest.
The inauguration is expected to attract top party officials, elected representatives, governors, and stakeholders from across the country.
