Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo
All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has congratulated Governor Chukwuma Soludo on his re-election, describing his victory in the November 8 Anambra governorship election as both historic and overwhelming.
In a statement released on Sunday in Awka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ejimofor Opara, said the outcome of the poll reflected the people’s continued confidence in Soludo’s leadership and his vision of building a liveable and prosperous homeland.
> “With 73 per cent of the total votes cast and victories in 98 per cent of the 326 electoral wards across the state, the people of Anambra have once again delivered a clear, unequivocal, and overwhelming mandate,” Opara said.
He described the result as “not merely an electoral outcome, but a referendum on performance and a celebration of progressive governance.”
Opara noted that the victory reaffirmed APGA’s identity as the political home of Ndi Igbo and the custodian of Anambra’s development ideals.
He also commended President Bola Tinubu for ensuring a peaceful and fair electoral atmosphere and praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he called “a transparent and credible election that reflected the will of the people.”
> “We equally recognise the professionalism and vigilance of the security agencies, whose presence and conduct guaranteed a peaceful and orderly exercise across the state,” he added.
Opara expressed sadness over the killing of Mr. Francis Ibe, the Councillor of Owerre-Ezukala and APGA leader in Orumba South Local Government Area, who was shot dead shortly after casting his vote.
> “We pray for the peaceful repose of his soul and call for the speedy arrest and prosecution of his killers,” he said.
He thanked the people of Anambra for their resilience, patience, and participation in strengthening democracy through the polls.
> “You are the true winners of this election,” he stated.
Opara also appealed to other candidates and political parties to accept Governor Soludo’s olive branch and work together for the unity and progress of the state.
> “Elections are moments of contest; nation-building is a continuous collective duty. The task ahead requires unity, maturity, and shared purpose,” he said.
Reaffirming APGA’s commitment to good governance, Opara said the party would continue to strengthen democratic institutions and expand opportunities for the people.
> “This victory marks a new chapter. Together, we shall build an Anambra that is liveable, prosperous, globally competitive, and exemplary in governance,” he concluded.
