
Wizkid, Asake and Davido
It was a weekend of international triumph for Nigerian music as some of the nation’s biggest Afropop stars delivered show-stopping performances across continents — a testament to the genre’s surging global influence.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Asake and Wizkid were major highlights in New York City on Saturday.
Asake headlined the Red Bull Symphonic concert at Brooklyn’s historic Kings Theatre, where his biggest hits were reimagined with a full orchestra.
The night featured surprise appearances from Wizkid, Gunna, Central Cee, Tiakola, and Fridayy, while Asake thrilled fans further by debuting a new track from his upcoming album.
In the United Arab Emirates, Grammy nominee Davido brought his energy to Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena with his “5IVE ALIVE” tour stop, attracting fans from across the Gulf region and reinforcing Afropop’s growing Middle Eastern fanbase.
Elsewhere, Olamide and Ruger took the Caribbean by storm at Afro Nation Punta Cana, part of the festival’s Nov. 7–9 lineup.
Their performances drew massive crowds and trended across social media platforms.
Tems represented Nigeria in Brazil, performing at AFROPUNK Brasil in Salvador, Bahia, on Sunday — a show celebrating African and diasporic culture.
Meanwhile, Kizz Daniel thrilled fans in Stockholm, Sweden, with his “Live with Full Band” concert, and BNXN (formerly Buju) lit up London’s Indigo at The O2 on Nov. 7 as part of his “Captain Tour.”
Rising star Fave also performed in Manchester, marking another milestone for Nigeria’s new generation of talent.
UK-based media personality Adesope Olajide (Shopsydoo) summed up the weekend’s success on Instagram, describing the artists as “ambassadors promoting our culture and bringing nothing but positivity to our people and the rest of the world.”
From New York to Dubai, Brazil to Stockholm, Nigerian artists continue to assert Afropop’s global dominance — showcasing not just music, but the vibrant energy of a culture now celebrated worldwide.
