Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Alhaji Abdulmalik Sarkindaji,
The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Alhaji Abdulmalik Sarkindaji, has strongly condemned the killing of soldiers by bandits in Kwanan Dutse and Gulbin Boka communities of Mariga Local Government Area.
Alhaji Sarkindaji, who stated this while addressing newsmen on Wednesday in Minna, described the act as “barbaric, wicked, and inhumane.”
The tragic event occurred on Tuesday, leaving the speaker with a heavy heart.
Sarkindaji expressed his sorrow over the death of the soldiers, who had been providing security for the local government, saying, “I received the news of the killing of these promising young officers with a heavy heart, who have kept my constituency safe for a long time now.”
He noted that the attack represented a significant setback for the farming communities in Mariga Local Government Area, stating that “my entire constituency is under siege.”
The speaker urged the military to ensure that the perpetrators of the heinous act are tracked down and brought to justice, saying, “they must not escape accountability for their nefarious actions.”
He also expressed his deepest sympathy to the military and assured that the state government would continue to support them in their mission to keep the state safe.
Sarkindaji pointed out that the attacks on the two military camps in the area had created a substantial challenge to the security situation in his constituency and the state at large.
He noted that the bandits, who come from neighboring states, have continued to unleash terror on the people, carrying out kidnapping, rape, murder, and cattle rustling.
