By ARMSTRONG ALLAHAMAGANI, Bauchi –
Bauchi State House of Assembly on Thursday screened and confirmed six commissioner-nominees sent by the State Governor, Bala Mohammed.
The lawmakers had, on Wednesday, screened and confirmed only one of the nominees, Maryam Bagel, who was said to have been cleared by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) having declared her assets.
The lawmakers then reserved till another day the screening of the remaining five nominees for their failure to declare their assets and not filing the CCB form.
They said they would only screen them upon receipt of clearance letter from the CCB that they have declared their assets.
But the Speaker, Abubakar Suleiman, announced on Thursday during plenary that “the House received a letter from the Code of Conduct Bureau informing it that the remaining five commissioner nominees whose confirmation is outstanding due to non-completion of asset declaration, have declared their assets with the Bureau in compliance with the law.”
Based on that, the lawmakers confirmed the remaining five nominees as commissioners and members of the Bauchi State Executive Council:
Those confirmed are: Abdulkadir Ibrahim – Alkaleri, Zainab Baban-Takko – Bauchi, Ahmad Jalam – Dambam, Adamu Gabarin – Darazo and Sabiu Gwalabe – Katagum.
The spokesperson to the Speaker of the Assembly, Abdul Burra, stated these in a statement made available to journalists in the state.
