PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –
The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG zone 6) Headquarters, AIG Sule Gomna has charged officer and men of the Nigerian Police to be civil in the discharge of their duties and respect the fundamental rights of citizen.
The AIG disclosed this in Calabar, when he visited the Cross River State Police Command as part of his familiarization tour to various formations under the zone.
AIG Gomna, who was received by Aminu Alhassan, The Cross River State Commissioner of Police, admonished the officers and men to be professional, disciplined, security conscious, civil to members of the public and respect the fundamental human rights of the citizens in the discharge of their duties.
A statement issued by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) Nelson Okpabi, said the AIG also interfaced with the traditional rulers, eminent persons, members of the PCRC and stakeholders and solicited their cooperation in the area of information sharing to enable the police perform optimally and uphold the peaceful atmosphere in the state.
The AIG equally briefed the press as partners in the fight against crime and on the need to redouble efforts on investigative journalism (inform and educate the public adequately), which is part of IGP’s citizens driven community policing approach to secure the society.
AIG Gonna called on the peace loving people of Cross River State to sustain the peaceful tempo by synergizing with the security agencies while going about their lawful businesses.
He also assured them of safety of lives and property as police under his watch will leave no stone unturn in the fight against criminality
