
Another faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State has elected members of the State Working Committee to run the affairs of the party.
The faction which claimed to be original PDP inaugurated its state officials on Thursday at the state secretariat of the party in Makurdi.
Speaking at the swearing in ceremony, the PDP State Elders Committee Chairman, Chief Terngu Tsegba informed the party faithful at the ceremony that “this is the original PDP. We are in authentic PDP in the state.”
The former Speaker noted that the PDP faction led by former Governor Samuel Ortom were not PDP members as he insisted that they were APC and LP members .
Tsegba revealed that Ortom was campaigning for Tinubu for 2027 election but assured that they would continue to be in the PDP to remain a formidable opposition party.
He disclosed that the ward committees would be inaugurated by the newly sworn in Chairman of the party.
Commenting, a member of PDP caretaker committee in the state, Mr. Terseer Tsumba appreciated the party members for their support and urged them to extend the support to the new party leadership in the state.
Responding on behalf of other members of the new officials, the State Chairman of the party Mr. Christian Abah appreciated the party members for finding them worthy to serve the party.
While assuring that the party would accommodate everyone that comes to the party, the new Chairman insisted that they would bring back the lost glory of the party even as he promised not to disappoint the party faithful.
In their separate comments, Major Onyeke for zone C, Alex Adum for zone B and Julius Atorough for zone A, all assured that the various senatorial districts would support the new leadership of the party to succeed.
