
Acting Executive Chairman, Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), Mr Emmanuel Agema

The Acting Chairman Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) Mr.Emmanuel Agema has called for more collaboration with the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission(BSIEC).
A statement by the Media Assistant to the Acting Chairman, Jacinta Benard made available to journalists on Thursday, said the inter agency collaboration was done during a meeting between the Management BIRS and BSIEC at the Commission’s headquarters in Makurdi.
The Media Assistant quoted the Chairman as saying that BIRS is a revenue collection agency of the state explaining further that since BSIEC is an electoral body that generates revenue, it is important to synergize for smooth running of election process which would in turn improve the revenue profile of the state.
According to the statement, the Chairman emphasized the role of BIRS in the electioneering process pointing out that, since the agency was empowered by law to provide Tax Clearance Certificates to Aspirants, it was also important for the service to screen and cross check Tax Clearance Certificates(TCC) presented by the aspirants.
The BIRS boss also solicited for unflinching collaboration with the agency in order to have a hitch free, smooth and fair local government election.
In his response the Chairman,BSIEC Barr.Terlumun Tombuwua who expressed delight over the initiative, applauded the Chairman BIRS and pledged to work with BIRS for the smooth of the local government elections.
