A 25-year-old woman believed to be the wife of a Boko Haram commander has surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources disclosed that the woman, identified as Kaltum Dalha, turned herself in at a Forward Operating Base at about 11:00 a.m. on February 26.
She reportedly arrived from Sabsawa Village alongside her two-year-old child, Awana Dalha.
Preliminary investigations revealed that her husband, who was said to be the commander of the Mairam Buri enclave, was recently neutralised by troops during a gun battle, as documented in an earlier operational report.
According to the report, the death of her husband played a major role in her decision to surrender. During interrogation, she also confirmed that the group had largely disintegrated following the elimination of their leader.
Military authorities noted that sustained offensive operations under Operation Hadin Kai in recent months have led to the neutralisation of several terrorist commanders, the arrest of suspects, recovery of weapons and ammunition, and the surrender of fighters and their family members.
The latest development, security officials say, underscores ongoing efforts to weaken insurgent networks and restore peace across conflict-affected communities in the North-East.
