
Borno State Police Command, in collaboration with the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Borno State Chapter, hosted a Capacity Building Workshop to bolster community-police ties, advance intelligence-led policing, and enhance public safety across the state.
Secretary to the State Government, representing the Governor, inaugurated the event, emphasizing the government’s dedication to supporting security agencies.
“Security is a collective responsibility,” the Secretary stated, underscoring the need for community involvement.
PCRC State Chairman, Amb. Abatcha Umar Nanabe, highlighted the importance of trust, cooperation, and information sharing in tackling security challenges.
According to a statement released on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer for
DCP Ahmed M. Bello, representing the Borno State Police Commissioner of Police CP Naziru Abdulmajid, delivered a keynote address titled “ _Public Safety and Security through Intelligence and Information Gathering.”_
Bello stressed the value of proactive policing, confidentiality, and robust community engagement.
The workshop featured discussions on the pivotal roles of women and youth in peacebuilding, the importance of witness protection, addressing youth unrest, and fostering stronger partnerships among security agencies, traditional leaders, and civil society organizations.
The event concluded with the presentation of certificates to PCRC stakeholders and patrons.
In his closing remarks, Amb. Abatcha Umar Nanabe expressed gratitude to the Borno State Government, security agencies, traditional rulers, women leaders, and stakeholders, stating, “PCRC remains committed to strengthening the bond between the police and our communities.”
