By JOY ADARA, Abuja –
Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has launched a fresh effort to remove companies from its register that fail to adhere to the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA), 2020.
The announcement was made via a public notice released on Tuesday in Abuja.
The CAC has published the names of non-compliant companies on its official website.
These companies have a 90-day window from the publication date to update their records or face delisting.
According to the notice, compliance requires submitting Annual Returns and providing details on Persons with Significant Control or Beneficial Ownership.
“Companies that do not file their Annual Returns within 90 days of this notice will be struck off the register,” the CAC stated, adding that updating information on beneficial ownership is equally mandatory within the same timeframe.
The commission cautioned that delisted companies would lose their legal standing and be prohibited from operating in Nigeria. This action aligns with Section 692 (3) and (4) of CAMA 2020.
The CAC encouraged the public to check the list of affected companies on its website and urged all businesses to ensure full compliance to avoid deregistration.
