Against the backdrop of constant training and retraining, Centre for Journalism, Innovation and Development on collaboration with Dubawa Nigeria has organised a 2-day digital skills and fact-checking training for journalists in Cross River
Speaking at the opening ceremony held at Ernest Etim Bassey Press Centre in Calabar, Project Manager, Dubawa Nigeria Temilade Onilede, stated that the aim of the workshop is to support journalists to enhance productivity by building their capacity and providing the basic technology to enable journalist to perform their functions effectively.
Onilede, who gave an overview of the training exercise intimated that journalists would be trained in understanding Information disorder, fact-checking, steps and methodology.
The Project Manager unveiled that the training will cover News and claim sourcing tools, (Google news, trends and google alerts).
The outline also covers digital verification tools (verifying AI content, Reverse Image Search amongst others.
