Zulum gets rousing welcome from annual leave, assures improve service delivery

Maiduguri residents, APC supporters, members of clubs and associations, National and State Assembly members, LGC executives, leaders, and workers, among others, defied the rainfall to give Governor Babagana Zulum a warm welcome back to Maiduguri.

The governor had been on a 30-day annual leave, which started on June 8, 2024, and ended on July 8, 2024.

Acting Governor Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur, State Executive Council members, State House of Assembly members, APC State Executives, party stalwarts, LGC Executive Chairmen, security chiefs, women and youth associations, and others received the governor at the Maiduguri International Airport around 2 pm.

The governor’s convoy took over an hour to reach the Government House at the GRA due to the enthusiastic reception by residents, youths, and women along the route.

They chanted political slogans and songs, danced, and waved posters and placards of the governor and the ruling party, APC.

Addressing the crowd at the Government House, Governor Zulum expressed his gratitude and excitement, promising continuous support and assistance to the less privileged and poor, including food provision and empowerment tools to address poverty and unemployment.

He also assured the people of robust and bumper harvests this farming season, thanks to efforts to improve food production.

The governor mentioned his recent agricultural mission to Pakistan, aimed at boosting farming and livestock production in the state. He urged the people to remain patient and resilient, assuring them that measures are being taken to address issues and prevent future problems.

Governor Zulum reiterated his commitment to providing security for lives and properties, soliciting understanding and cooperation from the people.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by the majority of the population and called on residents within and outside the state to continue praying for the state and its leaders to serve them better.
