Chinese Embassy in Nigeria has begun investigating allegations that a Chinese mining company abandoned Nigerian miners in the Central African Republic (CAR), following a viral social media video highlighting the issue.
In a statement released on Friday in Abuja, the embassy emphasized its commitment to addressing the matter promptly.
“The Embassy attaches great importance to this issue and has launched an immediate investigation to establish the facts,” the statement read.
The embassy further noted that the Chinese government requires all its enterprises and citizens operating abroad to strictly adhere to local laws.
“The Chinese side will urge the involved companies to address this matter appropriately,” it stated, underscoring its intent to ensure compliance.
Additionally, the embassy pledged to maintain close collaboration with Nigerian authorities throughout the investigation.
“We will work together to safeguard the lawful rights and interests of citizens of both nations,” the statement affirmed.
