The Holy See Press Office has announced that the conclave to elect the successor to the papacy (pope) will commence on May 7.
This decision was reached by the Cardinals during their fifth General Congregation on Monday in Rome.
The historic election will unfold within the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel, which will be closed to visitors throughout the duration of the conclave to ensure the solemnity and secrecy of the proceedings.
As the global Catholic community awaits the outcome, preparations are underway to accommodate the gathering of Cardinals from around the world in this sacred and time-honored tradition.
