The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has registered 371 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 158,042.
As at Fridayday (5th, March 2021), the public health agency also recorded three (3) new COVID-19-related deaths, raising the total fatalities in Nigeria to 1954 deaths.
The NCDC made this know in an update via its official Twitter handle @NCDCgov.
It added that with the new cases, the total number of confirmed infections since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country had risen to 158,042 confirmed cases, out of which 137,025 had been discharged.
The public health agency noted that the new infections were reported in 20 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The 371 new cases are reported from 20 states- Lagos (101), Rivers (54), Anambra (31), Ebonyi (23), Imo (23), Kwara (22), Kano (20), Taraba (17), Akwa Ibom (16), FCT (15), Abia (13), Kaduna (13), Osun (5), Edo (4), Oyo (4), Kebbi (3), Ogun (3), Ekiti (2), Nasarawa (1), and Zamfara (1)
The health agency also noted that it recorded 204 community recoveries in Kwara State, 167 in Lagos State, 88 in Edo State and 60 in Osun State managed in line with guidelines
The NCDC said that there were now 19,063 active cases across the country in the last 24 hours and it has so far carried out sample test on 1,544,008 persons since the outbreak of the infection last year.
It also said that a multi-sector national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, is coordinating response activities Nationwide.
